Beginner Latte Art Class

Your first pour, done right. Most beginner classes make you watch for an hour and pour once. Ours puts a pitcher in your hands from minute one.

The Format

This is a conference-style session built for a crowd — and built so nobody in that crowd is a spectator.

01 — Watch it big. Every pour is projected onto the big screen, so whether you're in the front row or the back, you see the milk hit the crema up close: the tilt, the height, the moment the pattern opens.

02 — Pitcher in hand. You get a practice pitcher at the door. While we demonstrate, you mirror — wrist motion, pour angle, speed control — building the muscle memory in real time instead of trying to remember it later.

03 — Pour for real. The session closes at four live espresso machine stations. Steam wand on, real milk, real shots. You apply everything you just drilled, with our team coaching at every station.

What You'll Learn

Milk science in plain language — why texture matters more than temperature, and how to hear when the steam is right. Pitcher mechanics: grip, tilt, height, and flow. Your first pattern: the heart, poured start to finish. And the workflow habits that separate baristas from people who own a machine.

Who It's For

Zero experience required. Home baristas pouring their first heart, café staff who never got formal training, teams looking for a hands-on experience that beats another happy hour. If you can hold a pitcher, you're qualified.

What's Included

Practice pitcher for the full session, all espresso and milk at the machine stations, coaching from baristas who compete on the national throwdown circuit, and a clear next step: when your heart holds its shape, the Intermediate class is waiting.

Taught by Competitors

Espresso State of Mind has run latte art competitions across the country for ten years. The people teaching your first pour are the same people who train the baristas you see on the circuit. You're not learning from a manual — you're learning from the floor.
